Jobs at the Olympics will be created by G4S UK after the company was named the official security firm for the 2012 London Games.
Around 10,000 Olympic jobs look set to be created by the announcement, which is thought to be worth around £100 million to the security company.
It will oversee the recruitment and training of security guards for the Olympics, helping with a number of services including facilities management and cash transportation, reports Reuters.
Paul Deignton, the chief executive officer of the London Organising Committee (Locog), said that progress is now being made on the finer details.
"This deal represents where we are with our plans for the Games – we’re now looking at operational delivery," he said.
"Our commercial programme has been a great success and we’re now approaching our targets which will contribute to the staging of spectacular Games in 2012."
Last month it was reported that Milton Keynes College will be one of 70 institutions to help train security people before the Games.
